Why this site exists
Home energy advice is usually written by someone selling something. We wanted a place that explains the subject the way a knowledgeable friend would: what matters, in what order, and what to be careful about.
What we are
Federal Rebates is a private, independent educational service. We publish plain-English guides on how homes use energy, how to use less, and how the rebate programs run by utilities, states and manufacturers generally work. If you ask, we will look at your answers and the programs in your state and get back to you with what to check.
What we are not
We are not a government agency, a utility or a program administrator. We do not run any rebate program, decide eligibility, or promise any outcome. Whether a home may qualify depends on each program's current terms, which change. Nothing here is tax, legal or financial advice.
How we write
- Order over lists: we tell you what to do first.
- No hype: no guarantees, no made-up numbers, no urgency.
- Dated: each guide shows when it was last updated.
- Honest about limits: when the answer is "it depends on your utility", we say so and tell you what to ask.
